I started Acapeldridge in 2017, and until now, I had never created a page for people to donate. The primary reason is because I didn’t need it, and I felt that if people wanted to support my work, the best way to do it was to listen to my CDs and share my videos online with friends and family. To be very clear, those ways are still the best ways to support my work, and my ability to exist and persist in my work is not dependent on donations. However, people have asked me over the years how they could support me further (and have found creative ways in doing so), and so it seems right for me to provide an easy and secure way to do it, while also offering some exclusive benefits in return for those who want to do so.
Since the completion of my “Whatever Is” series of CDs, I’m navigating the next chapter of my work. I may make more CDs in the future, but I would like for my work in the immediate future to be more largely focused on regularly scheduled content development, and consistent posting to social media pages. To this end, your support helps me dedicate the time it takes to make these songs and videos.
What is Ko-fi?
Many patron-platforms skim a percentage off the top, diluting the contributions of donors, and re-directing them to causes they may not support. Ko-fi is one of the few platforms that allows donors to make secure donations without taking any cut. Simply put, all of your contribution goes where you want it to go.
I also appreciate some of the social capabilities of Ko-fi. Aside from being just a simple donation platform, it gives us the ability to connect with each other in some creative ways, and allows me to offer some additional benefits that aren’t available anywhere else.
What additional benefits are offered to donors?
All donors (as little as $1) will have exclusive early access to new video content, and will also have the ability to participate in votes that determine some of the songs I sing. Whatever amount you choose to donate will remain private.
Thank you for your consideration,
Michael Eldridge
